About the job

Are you passionate about shaping young minds and inspiring the next generation of scientists?

East Leake Academy has an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of Science to join our talented, supportive, and well-established team. We encourage prospective candidates to visit us, meet the team, explore our facilities, and gain a true sense of the vibrant community you could be part of.

This position is offered on a full-time basis, though a part-time arrangement may be considered for the right candidate.

We are proud of our strong track record of success and are keen to continue strengthening our team with colleagues who share our commitment to exceptional outcomes for students. While appointing a Biology specialist would be ideal, we equally welcome outstanding applicants from all three science disciplines.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for teachers at any stage of their career, whether you are just starting out or bring a wealth of experience. A proven track record of successful outcomes is highly desirable (where appropriate to your career stage), but above all, we value passion, commitment, and the ability to inspire a love of science.

We are seeking colleagues who can teach across the full age and ability range, including Triple Science at GCSE and A-level in their specialism, if required. Our curriculum is largely delivered by subject specialists throughout the key stages, though there is some planned overlap at KS3 where staff may occasionally teach outside their specialism.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Bring enthusiasm, expertise, and the resolve to make a real difference by equipping students for future success
  • Hold high expectations of themselves and others, inspiring excellence across the faculty and school
  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner and a collaborative, supportive team member
  • Show a willingness to contribute to and develop excellent practice within the department
  • Demonstrate commitment to driving student progress while fostering holistic development
  • Deliver innovative, engaging, and challenging lessons that enable all students to fulfil their potential

Essential Requirements:

  • A clear sense of purpose and a strong, student-centred vision
  • Understanding of effective strategies to sustain high aspirations, strong outcomes, and excellent behaviour
  • High expectations for accountability, consistency, and professional conduct

They show respect and good manners when they speak with staff in class and at social times. Pupils know that their teachers want them to be as successful as possible.
