Pupil Protect Connect

Share what’s needed, for as long as it’s needed.

Connect gives social workers, health and other schools a secure view of exactly what you choose to share. Access ends on a date you set, and every item is logged with who opened it and why it was lawful to share.

For your designated safeguarding lead (DSL) team and the agencies you work with.

Access ends for everyone on 14 May 2027. You’ll be reminded 14 days before.

Built around Working Together to Safeguard Children, Keeping children safe in education and UK GDPR.

You choose who sees what, and for how long

Start a shared case from a child’s record. Pick the people, what they can see and the date access ends. Change any of it later, or stop sharing straight away.

  • Only verified contactsA work email on a known council, NHS, police or school domain, or a phone check through the agency’s switchboard. Unverified contacts can be phoned but not sent anything about a child.
  • Two levels of accessView only, or view and message, so a social worker can reply and send files back securely.
  • The child’s own words stay in schoolUnless you choose to share a concern in full, usually one at a time for a referral.

Removing someone ends their access straight away. It’s recorded in the sharing log.

What the social worker sees

Agencies sign in to their own Connect view, with two-step sign-in. They see the children each school has shared with them, newest updates first, and nothing else.

  • Updates arrive without chasingWeekly attendance, outcomes from concerns and approved meeting minutes, as soon as the school shares them.
  • Requests in one placeAsk the school for a report before a core group and see when it arrives.
  • Every view is visible to the schoolThe DSL can see what was opened, by whom and when.
Agency view for [Social worker], example

You only see what each school has chosen to share with you. Everything you open is logged and visible to the school’s DSL.

Referrals you can follow to the end

Every referral to social care, Early Help, health and the police, with where it has got to. Referrals waiting too long for a reply are flagged so you can send a reminder.

  • A drafted summary, checked by youAI can draft a referral summary from the concern and the chronology. It says where it came from, and nothing is sent until you’ve checked it.
  • Notifications come in here tooPolice and other agencies can send notifications and requests to your inbox, from verified senders, matched to the right pupil.
  • Allegations about adults stay in StaffLADO referrals are tracked there, where only the headteacher and the DSL can see them.

Referral summary, AI draft

On Fri 9 Oct Leo told a teaching assistant that an older male has been picking him up after school and giving him money to “drop things off”. He did not name the man.

His mum was told about the referral by phone at 12:05 and agreed to it.

Drafted from Leo’s concern of Fri 9 Oct and his chronology since 1 September. It has not been sent anywhere. The AI couldn’t find when the pick-ups started, so it left that out.I’ve checked this is accurate

A sharing log nobody can edit

Everything shared out of your school, or received into it, is recorded automatically: what, about whom, with whom, by whom, how, and the lawful basis for sharing it.

  • Read-only for everyoneEntries are recorded when something is shared or received. No one, including DSLs and administrators, can edit or delete them.
  • The lawful basis is part of the recordWorking Together, Keeping children safe in education, consent or a legal duty, chosen when you share.
  • See who opened whatEach entry shows whether the recipient opened it, and when.
  • Mistakes are recorded, not hiddenIf something was shared by mistake, the follow-up is added to the child’s record and logged as a new entry.
  • Kept with the child’s fileThe log is kept for as long as the child’s safeguarding file, and you can export it when you need to show what was shared.
