What the pay terms mean

Main pay range (MPS, M1 to M6): The pay range for qualified classroom teachers in maintained schools, set each year in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document. Teachers usually move up a point each year, subject to their performance. Academies can set their own pay, but most follow it.
Upper pay range (UPS, U1 to U3): A higher range for experienced teachers who have applied and been assessed to move onto it, often called crossing the threshold.

About the RoleJoin our dynamic team at Wickersley School and Sports College and help build the future. As a Teacher of English at WPT, your core responsibility is to ensure that every student assigned to you makes exceptional progress. You will plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that do not just meet the National Curriculum but bring it to life.

Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery: Plan and prepare engaging, industry-relevant courses and lessons
Adaptive Teaching: Deliver high-quality instruction tailored to the specific educational needs of the pupils assigned to you.
Assessment & Feedback: Set and mark work completed in School and elsewhere, providing constructive feedback that helps pupils refine their craft.
Progress Monitoring: Meticulously assess, record, and report on pupil development and attainment in strict accordance with School policy.
Mentoring: Collaborate with pupils and parents to set ambitious, achievable short-term learning targets that take prior attainment into account.

The successful candidate must hold their Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
