About the job

Due to an unexpected illness within our Maths department, we are looking to recruit a Teacher of Maths to join us as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Maths practitioner to become part of our dedicated and passionate team within a dynamic, diverse and over-subscribed University Technical College.

Maths is at the heart of our unique UTC STEM curriculum. We work closely with the NCETM and AMSP and are proud to be a centre of Maths within Birmingham, hosting events including Women in Maths, UKMT and Maths Feast. Our Maths team also plays an important role in supporting STEM learning across the academy, including links with Engineering.

We are looking for an innovative and creative Mathematician who can inspire our young people and bring Maths to life through its real-world applications. As the majority of our students are Post-16, the role also provides opportunities to teach A Level Maths, Further Maths and Level 3 Mathematical Studies.

Our location next to our sponsor, Aston University, gives our students and staff access to exceptional resources and teaching and learning spaces, alongside our own outstanding facilities.

AUSEAT is a highly diverse institution, with learners and staff from communities and backgrounds across the West Midlands. We particularly welcome applicants from our local communities who share our commitment to raising aspirations, improving social mobility and creating opportunities for our young people.

We are seeking a professional who is:

  • An enthusiastic and committed teacher

  • A teacher who has the highest expectations of student learning.

  • An excellent classroom practitioner with a drive for self-improvement and development.

  • Innovative and creative with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

As a valued member of AUSEAT we will offer:

  • A family-feel environment centred around the health and well-being of staff and students.

  • An outstanding positive working environment with excellent student conduct, and behaviour driven by our focus on high industry standards and culture of respect.

  • A designated staff Benefits, training and Health Care package including a family day off per year.

  • Personalised CPD and career development programme including National Leadership programmes and Aston University Programmes*

  • Opportunity for experience and development as part of our Armed Forces and Combined Cadet Force partnerships including flying lessons with the RAF.

Visits with the Principal are welcome either virtually or in person. To book your place or for any further details please email the Principal's PA Lauren Small on (email address on the original advert)
AUSEAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
