EYFS Class Teacher - Maternity Cover

We have a wonderful opportunity for a passionate, knowledgeable and inspiring teacher to join our school and play a vital role in maintaining standards for our pupils. If you are eager to secure a position where you have an opportunity to make real and immediate impact and develop your expertise in a supportive environment, then we would love to hear from you.

St Barnabas CE School is seeking to appoint an knowledgeable, passionate and professional teacher to join our community in January in our Early Years class! The role of a teacher in the lives of both the children and wider community is a vital and special responsibility. Our standards are high and we are therefore looking to appoint an outstanding practitioner who shares in our passion and values, supplemented by thorough knowledge and effective experience, to deliver the very best education for all, to help our pupils flourish.

Our school gives children a wonderful introduction to school life - our EYFS provision is inspiring and children make excellent progress throughout Key Stage One. We are a ‘happy and caring school’, providing all pupils with a ‘strong start’ and there is a real ‘family feel’ to the school (Ofsted, September 2023). Children are known, loved and understood and all adults care and want the very best for every child in our school, having a shared understanding that every child can achieve. Our school is an amazing place to learn and teach!

We are proud of our close links with St Barnabas Church and we also work very closely with Freeman's Endowed Church of England Junior Academy, which is where almost all of our children go for the next stage of their education. Additionally, both schools are led and managed by the same Headteacher - Our supportive leadership team are highly considerate of staff wellbeing and workload and strive to promote a positive working environment.

We are looking to recruit someone who:

  • Is up to date with current research around Quality First Teaching and Early Years practice.
  • Is an outstanding, passionate teacher who has high expectations for children’s learning, and can foster collaborative working and living our values every day
  • Ensures all children feel safe, happy and able to learn to the best of their ability and reach their potential.
  • Has the ability to develop effective relationships with pupils, parents and external agencies in order to support pupils’ smooth transition into school
  • Embraces, and is knowledgeable about inclusion
  • Has good knowledge of the curriculum and has high expectations of children's learning and outcomes and how to achieve them
  • Understands and is committed to pupils' pastoral needs and behaviour management
  • Has the ability to work effectively, flexibly, and independently and above all is a committed team member
  • Is an enthusiastic individual who supports and challenges positively, driving change for the benefit of all.
  • Supportive of the ethos of a Church and Trust school.

In return, we can offer you:

  • A school that is committed to the importance of developing children’s creativity, imagination and love of learning
  • A flourishing school that is committed to inclusion and building relationships that serve the whole school community
  • A school that believes in kindness, love and Christian values that underpin its approach to the whole school community.
  • A high quality, committed staff team who are passionate about ‘making a difference’
  • A large trust, spanning Northamptonshire, Rutland and Peterborough, that is highly committed to professional development and provides access to a range of developmental and career opportunities, encouraging you to reach your potential.

St Barnabas is a proud member of PDET, alongside 35 other schools in the Rutland, Peterborough and Northamptonshire area. PDET is responsible for employing all staff and managing the finances and other central services for the Academies in the Trust. These services include HR support; facilities and premises; procurement and school effectiveness.
