About the job

Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT) is seeking an enthusiastic, creative and dedicated Key Stage 1 Class Teacher to join our wonderful team at Mevagissey Primary School, teaching a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class. This is a maternity cover position until 31 August 2027.

Situated on the outskirts of the picturesque fishing village of Mevagissey, with stunning views across the Cornish coastline, our school is a special place to teach and learn. We are proud of our close-knit community, where children, staff, parents and local partners work together to ensure that every child feels valued, supported and encouraged to thrive.

Our school values of Magic, Empathy, Voice and Aspiration (MEVA) are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that learning should inspire curiosity, spark imagination and build confidence. Our learners benefit from a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that makes the most of our beautiful surroundings and strong community connections. From beach school to local traditions and community projects, we provide meaningful learning experiences that extend well beyond the classroom.

We are looking for a teacher who shares our passion for creating memorable learning experiences and who understands the importance of building strong foundations during Key Stage 1. You will plan and deliver ambitious, engaging and well-sequenced lessons, adapting your teaching to meet the different needs and stages of development within a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class.

You will create a warm, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where children feel safe to take risks, ask questions, develop independence and celebrate their achievements. Through high expectations, encouragement and positive relationships, you will help learners develop the curiosity, creativity, resilience and self-confidence that will support them throughout their education.

Relationships and collaboration are central to life at Mevagissey. You will work closely with colleagues, support staff, parents and carers to ensure that every child receives the support and challenge they need to succeed. We value teachers who are reflective, willing to share ideas and enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life of our school.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and the wellbeing of every child. You will recognise and celebrate the individuality of our learners, ensuring that all children have a voice, feel a sense of belonging and are supported to achieve their potential.

As part of Cornwall Education Learning Trust, Mevagissey Primary School benefits from a wider community of schools committed to collaboration, professional learning and providing an exceptional educational experience for every child.

Whether you are an experienced teacher or at an earlier stage of your career, if you are passionate about Key Stage 1 education, enjoy working as part of a supportive school community and want to inspire young learners in a truly special coastal setting, we would love to hear from you.
