Pupil Protect vs InVentry

InVentry is a widely used sign-in system for schools, covering visitors, staff and pupils. Visitors in Pupil Protect covers the same people, and links what reception sees to your safeguarding records.

The main differences are in who signs in, how the watch list works, and how each product connects to the rest of your safeguarding.

When InVentry may suit you better

No system is right for every school. These are fair reasons to choose InVentry.

  • You want late marks written back to your MIS. [Remove if Visitors does this too.]
  • You want sign-in linked to your door access system.
  • You only want visitor management, without a safeguarding records system.
  • You want a supplier that also serves businesses and other sites outside education.

Moving from InVentry

We bring your records across and your DSL checks them before anything goes live.

How switching works

Can we keep our visitor history?

InVentry says its system can report on and export data, so export your visitor log for the period you need to keep. [Confirm whether we import visitor history]

What hardware do we need?

A tablet at reception for the kiosk, and a badge printer. [Confirm supported tablets and printers, and whether existing InVentry hardware can be reused]

What about our list of people who mustn't be admitted?

Your DSL adds them to the Visitors watch list before go-live. Only the DSL and headteacher can see and change it.
